Mission Statement

Welcome to APPNA Connecticut Chapter

Irfan Chughtai, MD
President, CTAPPNA 2025

Dear CTAPPNA family,
Salam and greetings for a wonderful new year! I am humbled by the trust the physician community has placed in me, and I am eager to serve this community in my new role as President. I thank the Executive Committee for their unwavering dedication.
I am Dr. Irfan Chughtai, a nephrologist practicing in Connecticut. I was raised in Lahore, where I was captivated by the city’s vibrant cultural heritage from an early age. I completed my O’Level at St. Anthony’s High School, pursued further studies at Government College, and then attended King Edward Medical College. I trained at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, where I completed both my Internal Medicine residency and fellowship training in Nephrology. I have been in private practice since 2003 and have also held various administrative roles.
My wife Farah is involved in education. We have four children: Ahmad and Rabih are pursuing careers in medicine, while Areesha majored in Political Science and Middle Eastern studies, and Bassil is concentrating on International Relations.

Under the CTAPPNA banner, my team and I aim to advance physician advocacy, representation,
and philanthropy. We will continue to organize events like the Annual Gala, members’ brunch, and iftar gatherings for Yale, Netter, and UConn medical students to foster networking and learning from seasoned physicians. As CTAPPNA President, I aim to enhance support for medical students by launching a mentorship program to guide and mentor our future physicians.

As we introduce this mentorship program, we will seek volunteers to share their expertise. I am confident many of you will join us.

I am grateful for this opportunity and eager to positively impact our community while upholding our values. Thank you for entrusting me with this responsibility.
